Broadband World Forum 2013

Date: 22-24 October 2013

Location: RAI Exhibition & Convention Centre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Our Work at BBWF

Broadband networks are key to meeting our vision: The Internet is for everyone. And key to broadband networks' growth and health are network addresses, given the shrinking pool of old-school IPv4 addresses, and dealing with constant security threats. There are real and important advances on both fronts that we're excited to bring to this, our third year at the Broadband World Forum.

Our Activities

Security Workshop

Content Hub 2 (Trade Show Floor)
Tuesday, 22 October
1:30PM - 3:00PM

Internet security is increasingly important – and increasingly linked to our economic and social prosperity. A secure and resilient network is vital to continuing our existing operations and growing our businesses. With so much interconnection and interdependency on the global Internet, we must manage risks collaboratively to achieve effective security for everyone.

In this session, experts from the Internet Society and major organizations will describe three main areas of Internet security:

  • Network security – Organizations of all sizes must protect the usability, reliability, integrity, and safety of their networks and data to protect against routing misconfigurations and attacks, IP-spoofing, DDoS attacks, etc.
  • DNS security – To prevent hackers from taking over servers and website traffic, we must introduce security and authentication into the domain name system.
  • Email security – To protect your organization’s sensitive, private, and valuable information, we must introduce secure email technologies.

You will learn the current state of Internet security and have all of your questions answered by security experts during this informative and interactive session. Internet security is critical to the future of your business – don’t get left behind and vulnerable.

IPv6 Session

During the IP Evolution Track
Tuesday, 22 October
4:45PM - 6:15PM

We're gathering six speakers who have deployed IPv6 in their networks and are eager to share their experiences with you. In both the talks and the panel we hope to explore what IPv6 deployment looks like from inside a network operator who has done it. How much of the traffic is IPv6 and what is it made up of mostly? And how has having IPv6 deployed impacted their plans for network growth going forward? The first part of this session will be three individual talks from Swisscom (Switzerland), KDDI (Japan), and Everything Everywhere (UK). After those talks, we’ll have a panel with three more speakers from network operators in Germany, Romania, and the United States who will compare and contrast their experiences.
