Together with our global community, we extend the Internet’s reach and protect its long-term well-being.
2023 Year in Review
Over 2.6 billion people worldwide lack Internet access, and for those connected, many lack adequate laws and practices that safeguard their online privacy.
Since 1992, we’ve made it our mission to change this. With the dedicated contributions of our community and partners, we work to extend the Internet’s reach and make it secure.
In our 2023 Year in Review, we spotlight our progress and our global community’s vital role in this.

More and more, in disaster movies, there is a key indicator that something is really wrong and bad things are about to happen: The Internet is down.

Looking Beyond the Global Digital Compact
At the United Nations Summit of the Future in September 2024, world leaders adopted the Global Digital Compact.
The finalized text presents both opportunities and concerns, and we will continue to advocate for a multistakeholder approach to Internet governance.

”There’s no better place to meet interesting, internationally-minded people with a similar mission. You can have your coffee around the corner. But if you want to see the world, you need to have your coffee with someone from the Internet Society.”
We work together to ensure the Internet thrives and everyone can benefit from it.
