Internet shutdowns matter. Community networks must be developed, especially in remote areas. Governments are crafting policy that will affect individual privacy and Internet accessibility throughout the world.
The global Internet Society community cares about these and other pressing Internet issues, working continuously to safeguard the Internet for future generations. Made up of more than 83,000 members, we bring together diverse experiences, knowledge, and passion—so everyone can continue to benefit from the Internet.
What better way to address today’s Internet challenges than to bring the whole Internet Society community together? And why not make it productive and fun, with a virtual theme park of innovations and solutions? For three days, from 16 to 18 November, the Internet Society will host its first ever virtual Community Week event.
Activities and attractions at Community Week include exhibition booths run by chapters, organization members, and sponsors, dedicated sessions with a special focus on the Internet Society’s projects, and a lounge to network and chat with fellow community members. It’s a chance for members to learn about the important achievements of their like-minded companions all over the world—while sharing their own stories and perspectives on how to make the Internet better and safer for all.
From grassroots initiatives to groundbreaking change, Community Week will highlight how the Internet Society community is addressing key Internet challenges. It is a moment to hear about the amazing work our communities are doing, but also to share and learn from those experiences so that together we can shape a growing and stronger Internet for everyone.
The opening hours of Community Week will be:
- 16 November: 14:00 – 17:00 UTC
- 17 November: 05:00 – 09:00 UTC
- 18 November: 18:00 – 22:00 UTC
You can join us on the day that best fits your time zone (the program will be roughly the same on each of the three days)—or you can join on all of these days if you don’t want to miss your colleagues from the other side of the world.
If you’re a member, you just need to log in to the membership portal to get the Community Week event code and register.
If you aren’t yet a member, joining the Internet Society is free for individuals. When you join, you’ll be part of a broad network of organizations and people looking for ways to create an Internet for everyone—and Community Week is the perfect way to throw yourself into it!
