The 10th Slovenian IPv6 summit and SINOG2 meeting are happening on 9th and 10th of June in Tehnološki Park Ljubljana. Two days of excellent topics and presentations from world known experts will bring together Slovenian and regional IPv6 and networking/operational Internet community learnig various topics – from IPv6 to DNSSEC, routing security, SDN, encryption and many other interesting topics.
Slovenia is known by its IPv6 readiness, mainly on content side and also at ISPs, but what is lacking is a default rollout to residential customers – and this was the trigger for panel discussion with CTO level representatives from biggest ISPs from the country on why IPv6 is not yet rolled out to residential customers by default. Panel discussion is initialized by Ministry of Education, Science and Sport – Department of Information Society.
Just before the panel discussion Timo Hillbrink from XS4ALL will present the findings from their IPv6 deployment to all residential customers, followed by results of IPv6 test at Telekom Slovenia, that (as we hear) went through without any issues. Let’s see what management level has to say about their near future plans.
We’ll start and end the 10th Slovenian IPv6 summit with our dear friend (and one of the three best IPv6 security experts in the world) Fernando Gont – he’ll do a keynote and at the end of event also talk about IPv6 Extension Headers in the wild – interesting measurements and topic. We’ll also have other very good topics and you can see them on the summit agenda.
On Wednesday we continue with the SINOG2 meeting (Slovenian Network Operators Group) that will be opened by ISOC’s Frederic Donck, discussing the impact of Internet governance and policy on real life of operators. The agenda is packed with very good presentations and we are looking forward to this excellent event and discussion.
As I’m chairman of the IPv6 Summit I’ll have a different set of responsibilities on the first day, but on the second day I’ll present the test results from Go6lab when we implemented DNSSEC and DANE and tested top 1M Alexa domains for DNSSEC/DANE/TLS and also separately repeated the test for Slovenian domains. The results are… interesting 😉
The Slovenian IPv6 summits and SINOG meetings are organized by Go6 Institute, Arnes and LTFE.
If you happen to be around – join us in discussion, otherwise you can join the remote video streaming.
