Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT) brings together Internet engineers and networking experts, government representatives, Internet business leaders, and other interested parties from around the world to learn from training workshops and tutorials, attend technical presentations, discuss policies, and extend social and professional networks with like-minded peers.
The workshops will run from 19th to 23rd February, while the conference will run from Sunday 25th to Wednesday 28th February.

With ever growing routing related incidents happening on daily basis there is a need to have an open and candid discussion among the network operators community to find the possible way forward. To address this I would like to propose a Routing Security BoF, where operators can share their approach in securing their own infrastructure and keeping the internet routing table clean as well. Also, this will provide a platform to review and highlight various BCOP documents to address routing security.

Managing and routing resources from multiple regions is challenging, and an increasing number of transfers of IPv4 address space and temporary ‘leasing’ arrangements are exacerbating the problem. There is no longer a clear single point of reference for any given resource to be checked for its ‘right to use’. Peers, upstreams and relying parties are increasingly at odds over where truth lies in resource custodianship.
Join this session to participate in discussions with a panel of global network operators and experts about the issues being faced and potential practices that could help provide solutions. Are the answers technical? Or is it a people issue? Is BGPSec useful? Could RPKI/resource certification play a role? Should the APNIC community be looking to adopt best current practices such as MANRS?

Routing Security in 2017: We can do better!

In 2017, not a single day passed without an incident. While none of the incidents was catastrophic, all of them continue to demonstrate the lack of routing controls like those called for in MANRS that could have prevented them from happening.
This presentation will present data on routing incidents that took place in the APAC region. We’ll look at what measures could have prevented this from happening and provide some guidance on how to implement them.
