Letter from the ISOC Elections Committee
On behalf of the Elections Committee, we extend our appreciation and thanks to all of the candidates who stood for election for the Board of Trustees. The Internet Society is honoured to have such well-qualified candidates.
In the Chapters election, we had three candidates for two open seats:
- Gihan Dias
- Hans Peter Dittler
- Jean-Jacques Subrenat
74 out of the 100 chapters voted, which is 74%. Hans Peter Dittler and Gihan Dias received the highest number of votes.
In the Organizational Member election, we had three candidates for one open seat:
- Hiroshi Esaki
- Moez Chakchouk
- Demi Getschko
87 of the 150 Organizational Members, or 58% voted. The ballot cast was weighted by the class of membership. Hiroshi Esaki, received the largest weighted vote count.
As defined in ISOC’s Procedures for Selecting Trustees, we now move into the challenge period. Challenges can be lodged between now and 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 7 May 2014, by email to the President of the Internet Society, Kathy Brown at: [email protected]. Any such challenges must be addressed to the President of the Society with a recital of the reasons for the challenge. The President, after consultation with the Chairs of the Nominations and Elections Committees and the members of the Board of Trustees, shall advise the author of the challenge of the Board’s decision within 7 days following the end of the challenge period.
The Challenge Response Period ends on Monday, 12 May 2014, the date on which the results will be finalized and officially announced. The name of the IAB appointee to the Board of Trustees will also be announced on 12 May.
The new Trustees will serve three-year terms commencing with the Annual General Meeting, 27-28 June 2014.
