The Internet Society today applauded the appointment of Fadi Chehadé as the incoming President and Chief Executive Officer of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Mr. Chehadé was introduced to the ICANN community at their meeting last week in Prague, and will join ICANN by October 1, 2012.
Internet Society President and Chief Executive Officer Lynn St. Amour commented, “ICANN plays a vital role in the Internet ecosystem — the collection of organizations and communities that help the Internet work and evolve, and that share a common vision for the open development of the Internet. We congratulate ICANN on its selection of Fadi Chehadé as its next leader. His commitment to acting in the public’s interest and his strong track record in consensus building are both essential to the multistakeholder approach that is foundational to the development of the Internet. We look forward to our continued collaboration with ICANN to ensure an open, global Internet.”
