The Internet Society applauds the U.S. Congress’ decision to revisit the proposed online piracy legislation (SOPA and PIPA) and expresses its hope that any redraft will take into account the concerns expressed by the Internet community. In the fight against online piracy, the Internet Society encourages efforts that respect fundamental rights, such as freedom of expression, and do not harm the overall stability and interoperability of the Internet. Any lasting solution will need to be based on international cooperation.
