Over 1,000 network designers, operators, vendors and researchers converge at 74th IETF meeting hosted by Juniper Networks.
San Francisco, CA, USA – 18 March 2009 – More than 1,000 leading technologists will convene next week for the 74th Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) meeting to be held in San Francisco on 22-27 March. Hosted by Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), a leader in high-performance networking, the IETF meeting will bring together the industry’s most prominent thought leaders who will seek to advance issues and technologies such as IPv6 that are critical to the further development of the Internet.
The IETF, which has provided leadership in the development of Internet standards for nearly 20 years, is a large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet.
“With more than one billion people using the Internet today, IETF meetings such as this one will be key to developing and deploying the technical foundation needed to support the next billion users and an even greater diversity of applications,” said Russ Housley, Chair of the IETF. “Juniper technologists have long been key contributors to many of IETF’s standards and technologies, and we appreciate Juniper’s continued participation and support.”
“The IETF has been central to the Internet’s success, and has consistently shown how open, consensus-based processes can positively shape an infrastructure that is increasingly integral to how people work, learn, and play,” said Rob Enns, vice president of engineering, Edge and Aggregation Business Unit, Juniper Networks. “Juniper is honored to be hosting this IETF meeting at a time when the Internet is ever more important as a platform for communication and innovation.”
The Internet Society (ISOC), a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to ensuring the open development, evolution, and use of the Internet for the benefit of people throughout the world, serves as the organizational home for the IETF. IETF meetings are held three times a year with upcoming meetings to be held in Stockholm, Sweden on 26-31 July, and in Hiroshima, Japan on 8-13 November.
