As part of our 25th anniversary, the Internet Society joined with Chatham House on 11 May for a discussion on the impact of the Internet on societies. This event brought together Internet experts, industry influencers, senior government officials, and opinion leaders to consider challenging questions and concerns about the future.
As a follow-up to this discussion, the Internet Society hosted a Community Forum for its members to address key questions around whether the Internet of the future will be a force that brings people together or divides us.
This was a 90-minute discussion moderated by Ms. Emily Taylor, Associate Fellow, Chatham House, and featured several guest panelists, including:
- Dr. Ismail Syed Shah, Chairman, Pakistan Telecommunications Authority
- Ms. Rebecca MacKinnon, Director of the Ranking Digital Rights project at New America
- Ms. Sally Wentworth, Vice President of Global Policy Development, Internet Society
Following remarks from the panel, we opened the conversation to our community: How do you think the Internet will impact society in the future?
