Together, We Made a Difference: Our Impact in 2021

Imagine a global resource that anchors us during global upheaval. One that evolves and adapts to meet our needs. A resource that doesn’t deplete but grows with human care.

Fortunately, we don’t have to imagine. Over the decades people have nurtured the Internet, helping it flourish into a force for good. Its limitless potential gives rise to our limitless human potential.

And it sustains us.

With so much changing around us, the Internet remains a resource society can turn to during times of tumult. This is why we strive to ensure that everyone can have access to it, benefiting from the global exchange of ideas, information, and services.

The Internet Society’s Impact Report 2021 is a narrative of human tenacity, compassion, empathy, and success. It tracks our work through our actions and the actions of those across our global community.

It shows communities everywhere connected through people working tirelessly to expand Internet access to those who don’t have it, and to strengthen that connection for those who do.

The initiatives and achievements are worldwide: from implementing critical Internet exchange points throughout Africa, to securing routing throughout the world, the whole Internet Society community worked to influence policy that centers on people, empowered communities, and advocated for the Internet as it grows and faces new challenges in supporting human needs.

Together we can grow and strengthen the Internet for future generations. Because this precious resource is for everyone.
