Around 3.5 billion people do not have Internet access, many of them living in remote locations. How can they share the benefits this amazing resource brings?
Tackling the digital divide is not easy, but everyone can help. Looking for a way to lend a hand? Come to Mozfest and help #SwitchItOn
Sound awesome? Find Us At Mozfest
If you love the Internet, you’ll love Mozfest. And each year we’re there, showcasing how people in some of the world’s most remote locations are building and running Internet connections of their own. Community Networks are a great compliment to traditional solutions around Internet access. Each is unique and each is created by communities, for communities, with communities.
At Mozfest, we tell the story of community networks around the world. And in 2018, for all of those who liked getting their hands dirty, we asked them to roll up their sleeves and learn how to build their own Internet connection!
In a hands-on session led by Altermundi’s Community Networks expert, Nico Pace, participants learned how to build a do-it-yourself Internet connection using mesh technologies. And using an open source hardware WiFi router to create a network onstage, Nico worked with participants to build a peer-to-peer platform, stream videos and even showed them how peer-to-peer instant messaging can happen.
Mozfest is all about tinkering, exploring possibilities, and demonstrating how anyone, anywhere, can connect their community.
If you couldn’t make it to Mozfest, there are many other ways you can help. Join us and become part of an amazing community dedicated to creating an Internet for everyone.
