Start a Community Network
Start Building
We have published Community Network Readiness Assessment Handbook to help communities assess if they are ready to deploy and maintain a community network, and take steps to plan and build one.
Some of our partners have developed practical toolkits for building community networks.
- netCommons, APC and Internet Society: Telecommunications Reclaimed: A Hands-on Guide to Networking Communities
- Next Century Cities: Becoming Broadband Ready: A Toolkit for Communities
- The Dynamic Coalition on Community Connectivity (DC3): Articles, books, and other data on community networks
- Wireless Networking In The Developing World (WNDW): WNDW is a free book about designing, implementing, and maintaining low-cost wireless networks.
Chapter and SIG Activities
Many of our chapters are involved in community networks. Twenty-eight Chapters participated in Chapterthon 2019 under the theme “Connect the Unconnected”. They created innovative and impactful short-term projects that are “for the community, with the community, by the community”.
