Director, Governance and Board Operations

Biography

I serve as the Director of Governance and Board Operations for the Internet Society and the Internet Society Foundation. In this role, I support the work of board and board committees by ensuring strong sector practices are in place, facilitating communication between the board and staff, and managing all aspects of board meeting logistics and board member engagement.

My background is in nonprofit board governance and management. Prior to joining the Internet Society, I served as director of governance at United Way Worldwide and led the governance and board operations of the organization as well as the meetings of the members. I began my career at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems and was responsible for a wide range of activities, including board governance, organizational and donor compliance, advocacy, and fundraising, among other things.

I received both a graduate certificate in nonprofit management and my bachelor’s degree in government and international politics from George Mason University. As an undergrad, I interned at the State Department in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs.

I am a strong believer in the power of community and getting involved at the local level. Currently, I serve as a volunteer board leader with the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area and with my homeowners’ association. When not working or volunteering, you can find me gardening, baking, and spending time with my dog.
