Patrick Webre serves as Chief of the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB) of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In this capacity, he oversees the Commission’s rulemaking efforts regarding issues such as robocalls, slamming, cramming and disability-related matters. He also oversees the Commission’s outreach initiatives with consumers, and with state, local, and tribal governments, and manages the agency’s consumer inquiries and complaints operation.
Prior to this, Patrick was an attorney at Jenner & Block in Washington, D.C., where he represented clients in complex transactions and investigations before regulatory bodies, and provided counsel in telecommunications policy and compliance. Earlier, Patrick was senior director and senior counsel at Charter Communications, where he directed federal regulatory and legislative affairs.
Patrick previously served at the FCC for nine years. He was an associate bureau chief in CGB, and a senior counsel on the FCC’s DTV Policy Group, where he oversaw several aspects of the nation’s transition to digital broadcast television. He also served as legal advisor to the Chief of the Media Bureau and as an attorney in the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Webre practiced law in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a member of the House of Delegates of the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Webre is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and Louisiana (inactive).
