Dr. Abu Sufian E. Dafalla graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Khartoum in 1992 in the digital satellite communications. He spent three months in University of London as researcher.
He joined the common market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) in 1997. He was ICT sector Manager from June 2002 to Dec 2011. He was acting Director of Infrastructure from Jan 2012 to March 2014. He was Director of Infrastructure from April 2014 and retired in Feb 2017. He is now Independent consultant.
He prepared and managed projects as well as discusses and negotiates proposals for funding with the development partners such as EU, AfDB, USAID, JICA and IDRC. He served the infrastructure Ministers Meetings, workshops, COMESA Council of Ministers and the Summit of Heads of Government and Presidents during his work in COMESA. He was the secretary of the infrastructure ministers meetings.
He participated in many international and regional conferences on infrastructure, ICT and its investment. He published many papers in the international journals.
After retirement from COMESA, he works as freelance consultant. He worked with AECOM and DT Global on ICT projects. He is part of the team developing PIDA PAP2. He is lead ICT expert in the IGAD regional infrastructure development team.
