Biographie

CEO of BRAINTEC Netzwerk-Consulting and president of ISOC.DE, the German Chapter of the Internet Society

Hans Peter Dittler, originally from and currently living in Germany, is the CEO of BRAINTEC Netzwerk-Consulting, a company focused on Internet, network and security centered consultancy. Hans Peter began his business career in the late 1970s at the University of Karlsruhe as a research fellow on communication protocols. In 1980, he was one of the founders of a startup company that focused on developing communication and networking equipment. He decided to start his next company BRAINTEC in 1995 as a change from equipment production to consulting. Starting in 2006 Hans Peter Dittler became a member of the advisory council of PIR helping the .ORG registry to grow and prosper. Since 2009 Hans Peter Dittler is chair of the board of ICNOVA a young startup company offering software for finance risk management.

Since 1987 Hans Peter was active in the standardization of networking protocols, first in the IEEE 902.3 LAN/MAN committee. Beginning 1993 he changed his focus to Internet-protocols such as PPP, IPv6 and DNS and has since participated in the IETF work. His main interest is to bring back new technology from the IETF to companies and users in Germany. Based on his long experience with IPv6, he was invited in 2001 to join the German IPv6-taskforce to promote the use of IPv6 throughout Germany and Europe.

Dittler has published books on IPv6 and VoIP and papers on Internet security and other aspects of Internet use.

In 1991, he was one of the founding members of DIGI which later became recognized as ISOC.DE - the German chapter of the Internet Society. DIGI was founded to implement DENIC as a not-for-profit organization owned and supervised by the local community and open for all ISPs. Hans Peter was the representative of ISOC.DE in the DENIC steering group during the startup-phase until 1997. He was a member of the board of ISOC.DE since the beginning and is currently the elected president of the chapter. Since 2009 Hans Peter has used his chapter background to help the Internet Society in several functions. He was part of the bylaws task force to renew and update the bylaws of the Internet Society to reflect the chapters and their role. He then was part of the group that created the Chapters Advisory Council of the Internet Society.

Since the summer of 2014 he has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Internet Society.
